It looks like Armidale cycling is going from strength to strength, with some fantastic recent results by local riders around the world!
We’ld like to highlight the following rider achievements:
Olive Tutt competed at the recent State Junior road championships in the U17 category, and placed 4th in the ITT, 6th in the road race, and 5th in the crit. Olive then backed this up at the recent Tamworth Cycling Festival placing placing 1st in both the crit and hill climb. With these stella results Olive has been selected to represent NSW in New Zealand at the upcoming Junior Tour of Southland. Well done Olive, outstanding results!!
We also has a number of other local riders who competed in Tamworth Cycling Festival. In particular there were outstanding results by the junior riders, including Fergus Ward-Sutton (1st JBU9), Lincoln Brennan (1st JBU11), Thomas Singleton (1st JBU13), and Tahlia Harper (1st Participation Race/Ride). There were notable results for Oliver Marshall (4th Hill Climb), Tom Simmonds (7th Hill Climb). You can see the full results here.
Holly Harris, Katherine Hosking & Emily Wooster all qualified to represent Australia at the recent MTB XC World Cup at the the infamous Mont-Sainte-Anne track in Canada. It looked like a brutal course as you can see below!
Finally huge congratulations to Sam Jenner for his selection to represent Australia at the upcoming UCI Road World Championships in Yorkshire, UK, after a successful season racing with the Wiggins Le Col team. Go Sammy, I’ll see you there and if you win I’ll shout you a pint of Theakstons!
Well done to all the riders, and don’t forget there is still plenty of local racing left this year, including the upcoming NSW State Masters Road Race & Crit which this year is just down the road in Coffs Harbour, so ignore the magpies and get riding!
