TT Race Results

With rain on the forecast, it was a surprisingly sunny winter afternoon that greeted a small group of TT riders to pit themselves against the clock in the race of truth.

Jo Wauch was the GO rider, with Captain Creagen next down the start ramp with riders spaced at 1 minute intervals. Abbott White was next to go, and with some clip-on bars added to hi setup it would be interesting to see how his rapidly improving form would translate with a more aero setup. Hugh McKellar was next to go, also with aero bars on his Propel, while John Kenny and Rod Christie both opted for conventional setups. Last of was TT specialist Phil Thomas, who would be the rider to beat in what were ideal racing conditions.

As riders hit the turn, Phil had established a clear lead, but the battle for podium spots was much tighter with less than a minute separating 4 riders with Hugh and Abbot just having their noses in front at the halfway mark.

With a fast run for home on the cards, it was no surprise to see Phil Thomas take out a clear win, although he came up agonisingly short of hitting the magic 40kmh average…well done Phil. Hugh put in a strong return leg to take a clear second, while Abbott used his aero advantage over Rod & John to take out the last podium spot…nicely done!

Well done to all racers, and thanks to Wild & Andy for running the race. Next week we hit the gravel!
