It was typical TT conditions on Dangarsleigh this weekend – a cold winters day with a strong blustery south easterly wind, making for challenging riding and putting a dent on the overall times

11 riders were lined up sporting their shiny new club kit, and the GO rider was Jacqui King fresh from her ironman exploits. Adam Edwards was next off the start ramp, with riders rolling out at 1 minute intervals with Wilf doing a sterling job managing the timings. Jo Wauch, Clint Bourke, Andrew Swan, and Dene Bourke all hit the road, before it was the turn of the TT specialists to get motoring. Hugh McKellar fired up his Propel, with newly crowned gravel champ Pat Ferris in hot pursuit. Andy Robb was next off, with Phil Thomas the penultimate rider, and Mick Hoult bringing up the rear with his new bike fit to put to the race-test.

As riders hit the turn, the field was compressing quickly, with Houlty already nosing ahead of Keglegs and lining up the rest of the field. Hugh was also putting in a strong ride, while Pat was the leading roadie out on the course. Dene was also edging the battle of the Bourke’s, while Jo was putting in her usual consistent effort.

First to cross the line was Hugh, and then a blur of riders came through in the next couple of minutes, but the clear winner was Houlty who put in a mightily impressive ride to average over 40kmh in the conditions; Phil was a clear second, with Andy hanging on for the last podium spot.

Well done to all riders for racing hard while battling the elements, and thanks to Wilf for putting out the signs and running the race.
